Manufacturing Process

The intricate process of lace manufacturing requires a delicate blend of patience, skill, precision and love for lace. Creating a warped knit collection follows stages of design and development where a team of designers, planners, drafters and engineers work in synergy to bring our customer’s ideas into fruition.

Sketching
01

Sketching

Our first stage in the process starts with a “simple artwork”. Drawing inspiration from Noyon Dentelle’s 100-year-old design archive, trending fashion styles and other sources, our team imagines and creates up to 450 unique designs each year. We spend days perfecting a concept to create a distinctive, modern, and intricate sketch before it is passed on to the drafting specialists.

Drafting

Drafting

Our experienced team of drafters then convert the sketch into a digital format using an advanced software “SAPO”. Patience, precision, and attention to detail by each drafter is crucial at this stage as it affects the final output of the knitted lace, so it is important that the team takes their time in achieving the desired results.

Knitting
03

Knitting

From sketch to fruition. Comprised of over a hundred members, our team brings a sketch to life using state of the art knitting machines. Based on our customer’s need, we use both traditional and modern machines to create the final product. Textronic (TX, TL) machines provide more of a 3D and embroidery effect, whilst more complex designs are created using Jacquardtronic (JQ, JT, JL, JB, MJ). We use Raschel (ML) machines to offer our customers basic, cost-effective designs.

Dyeing
04

Dyeing

Once the lace has been knitted, our team of dye and finishing experts take over the process to achieve the colours based on customer requirements. Noyon Lanka has 21 jet dyeing machines that can hold a maximum capacity of 300kg. Our dye profiles range from light and medium colours to dark and black colours and four main types of dyes, such as, acid dyes, metal complex dyes, direct dyes and disperse dyes.

Dry Finishing - Machinery

During this process we further perfect the lace execution and convert them into “bands”, “galloons” and “all-overs”. We have 2 “all-over” inspection machines and 24 inspection machines for trims and galloons at Noyon Lanka.
